How does Microcurrent Point Stimulation help with my therapy?

Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) is a hybrid low frequency, DC current stimulation to acutherapy points, also known as trigger points. By stimulating the parasympathetic system and also down-regulating the sympathetic system, this process “calms” your body down and allows it to recover to a more normal state. Here’s a good video about MPS from Cozy Physical Therapy:

MPS combines e-stimulation and acupuncture for pain relief

For those who may be fearful of needles or intimidated by an acupressure point chart, MPS is possibly and even better alternative, as this treatment method requires no needles, is non-invasive and completely safe. By using the tiny microcurrent on acupressure points, this helps to relax muscles, break down scar tissue, or alleviate pain, similar to how traditional Chinese acupressure/acupuncture. MPS has been extremely helpful for many people with chronic pain, including back, shoulder, knee, ankle, and even pain caused by scar tissues. Some of our clients who have been treated with MPS therapy have reported that they’ve regained their mobility or have discontinued the use of pain medication, excited to return to doing the things they enjoyed.

MPS can help with more than just chronic pain!

MPS is also a great tool for women’s health, especially during pregnancy, capable of induction without medication or Pitocin and postpartum pain relief. Use of MPS is encouraged at the end of the 3rd trimester to induce labor, but we do recommend consulting with both your MPS clinician and medical doctor prior to MPS treatment during pregnancy. MPS is also extremely helpful with postpartum care, specifically for low back pain, C-section scar release and healing, lack of core support, post-labor pain, hemorrhoids, constipation, sciatic pain and more. Learn more about MPS by contacting our office and speaking to one of our clinicians.
